#FF: @TweetMATCOR

[vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]This week we are looking at MATCOR, a company whose cathodic protection systems (which we will be explaining further next week) set the international standards for corrosion related projects.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Not only is MATCOR leading their industry on an international scope, their twitter handle, @TweetMATCOR is leading the industry in the Twitterverse. They operate their handle basically as a channel that is specifically dedicated to providing followers updates from the Corrosion and cathodic protection industry.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image css_animation=”” image=”1725″ border_color=”” img_link_large=”” link=”http://cabotsusq.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/matcor-pic-2.gif” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Keeping up to date with industry information is something that MATCOR takes very seriously. Their website offers links to the latest news, case studies, and technical papers. They also have an in-house published magazine that allows readers to tap into the MATCOR culture.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Social Media is also an important part of MATCOR. People can stay connected with them on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. They also operate a blog called Integrity That Works.  We had the opportunity to talk with their Director of Marketing Communications, Trevor Eade who gave us the inside scoop on MATCOR’s social media initiatives. Check out his responses below:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Who is the voice behind the @TweetMATCOR twitter account?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Ultimately I am responsible for the Twitter, but the Marketing Department manages the @TweetMATCOR account[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]How did you get started on twitter and how long have you been tweeting?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]MATCOR has been leading the corrosion industry with its Social Media activity.  @TweetMATCOR was created during the Winter of 2010; this was part of the re-branding and communications program MATCOR has in place.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]What is the most interesting aspect of the @TweetMATCOR handle?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The volume of Re-Tweets – it is a much younger audience and that is great – while many of our decision makers are not users of Twitter, the next generation are.  And we want to nurture those relationships now.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]What is your strategy for deciding what to tweet?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The majority of the tweets we send are topical newsworthy events that directly impact our business.  It is rare to find MATCOR using Twitter to directly promote our range of cathodic protection products/services.  We have found that Twitter is great to connect with other social media leaders at the various conferences we attend, along with our recruitment team having success in job applications[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
