Support & Promote Local Animal Adoptions with Cabot

Cabot is proud to support WBRE’s Pet of the Week program on Friday mornings at 11:00 am. The program features animals from local animal shelters that are in need of a “forever home”.

According to the American Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 6.5 million animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year and are in need of adoption.

Adopt Don’t Shop

Visit your local animal shelter or humane society during your search for a new pet. If you are local to the greater Scranton, PA area, consider visiting the Luzerne County SPCA, which is featured on WBRE’s Pet of the Week. Their website explains the steps you should take to ready your home before adoption, requirements, application, and cost.

Reminder for the Holidays

Pet purchases and adoptions tend to spike right before the holidays. Then, in January and February, surrenders increase as families drop off unwanted animals at shelters. When thinking of adding a new furry friend to the family – maybe even around the holidays – remember that millions of sheltered animals throughout the U.S. are in need of a loving home. Be sure that the animal will be properly cared for and appreciated before bringing home a furry friend as a gift for a young child, family member, or friend.
