Congressman Fred Keller Touts Cabot on U.S. House Floor

On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, Congressman Fred Keller, of PA’s 12th Congressional District, spoke in front of the U.S. House in Washington, D.C. touting Cabot, and our partnership with Lackawanna College of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

Keller said, “Our nation’s economic prosperity and national security interests are secured due to the energy-rich districts like Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District. That’s why during the recent august district work month, while in Monday tress, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, I visited Cabot Oil & Gas, one of Pennsylvania’s largest natural gas producers.”

He adds “On any given day, Pennsylvania’s 12th district is well positioned to help make the United States a net energy exporter by producing as much as 10% of the country’s natural gas. Equally important is the great partner energy producers have made with local governments and educational institutions. As a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, I know the importance of bringing industry and education together to enhance workforce development, especially in rural areas.”

Keller goes on to say “That is why it made me proud to see Cabot partnering with Lackawanna College’s school of Petroleum & Natural Gas as a means to provide career-ready job skills in the natural gas industry. Thanks to this partnership, they are able to make family sustaining wages in an industry that will remain in Pennsylvania for generations. Congress should use this example set in Susquehanna County and by energy producers throughout Pennsylvania 12th Congressional District to help with a better future.”

Listen to Representative Keller’s remarks in the video below:

As of late, he has spoken at one of Cabot’s key outreach efforts, Think About Energy Briefing, in Lewisburg, PA on September 4th highlighting his role on the House Education and the Labor Committee, and the importance of introducing energy, utility and trades careers to young people.

Rep. Keller also visited Cabot’s Susquehanna operations towards the end of August to see how our locally produced natural gas is powering America and how Cabot’s educational partners are creating a workforce for the future.
