[vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]A recent U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) release discusses how new natural gas pipelines have expanded northeast gas production – boosting natural gas production 18 percent higher than the year-ago period. While several important projects have come online in late 2015 and early 2016, there is still insufficient “takeaway capacity” in the Appalachian Region.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/2″]The PennEast Pipeline is one new pipeline project that will help deliver abundant Pennsylvania natural gas to a receiving region (i.e. eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey). Announced in August 2014, the PennEast Pipeline Project is awaiting a Draft Environmental Impact Statement from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The PennEast Pipeline will originate in Dallas, Luzerne County, in northeastern Pennsylvania, and terminate at Transco’s pipeline interconnection near Pennington, Mercer County, New Jersey.

I have been closely monitoring the project since it was first announced. Safety and environmental protection are primary concerns of mine. Also important are the opportunities the pipeline will bring for lower energy costs and increased standard of living.

Not only would the PennEast Pipeline increase the availability of Pennsylvania natural gas but it would create thousands of good-paying jobs.

Access to reliable and affordable supplies of natural gas will benefit businesses and families. It has been estimated that electric and natural gas users in eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey would have saved $893 million on their utility bills had the PennEast Pipeline been in operation in 2013-2014.
