Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation recently joined State Rep. David Millard, representing the 109th legislative district, and Cassandra Coleman, Northeast Regional Director for Governor Wolf, to celebrate the accomplishments of Columbia-Montour AVTS students by hosting an ice cream social at the school for 9th and 10th grade students enrolled there.
Columbia-Montour AVTS is one of the career & technical centers Cabot extended its educational scholarship program too at the beginning of the 2015-2016 academic school year. The gathering also served as a way to encourage the 9th grade class to apply for the scholarship before next fall. The funds are available for all technical programs offered by the school. “Most of the funds used at Colombia-Montour AVTS were to offset kits students needed for the cosmetology program,” explained David J. Bacher, Administrative Director, Columbia-Montour AVTS. “Cabot’s EITC program is appreciated and does quite a bit to get shop/trade specific tools into students’ hands. Cabot’s support of this school and CTE, in general, is appreciated,” he remarked during the social.
Rep. Millard, no stranger to a hands-on career after working 30 years in the power industry for Bechtel Power Corporation and PPL, addressed the students about being the future of the region’s economy. He also commented on the merits of Cabot decision to invest in Columbia-Montour emphasizing this is “what EITC funding is supposed to be used for!”
Cabot looks forward to working with Columbia-Montour AVTS this upcoming school year and hosting another ice cream social in the spring!
