[vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/2″]You read about our entire External Affairs team in last week’s post, but today we’d like to pay special attention to the Director of that team, George Stark. You may know George as the face of Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation in Susquehanna, Pa. He oversees the coordination of most of Cabot’s large events including the upcoming Cabot Community Picnic and various community efforts such as the Endless Mountains Health Systems Match Fund.[/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image css_animation=”” image=”1036″ border_color=”” img_link_large=”” link=”http://cabotsusq.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/georges-tweets.jpg” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]He’s the man you see representing Cabot on the 5 p.m. news and the man who drives the public relations vehicle in Cabot’s Pittsburgh Office, but we want you to know him as much more than that. Since becoming the Director of External Affairs here in April, 2010, George has come to embrace even the most difficult parts of his job and has continued a life-long passion for community engagement.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Q: Where are you from and what is your background in the industry? I grew up in a small steel town in Western Pennsylvania called Monessen. After earning a degree in Political Science from Dickinson College, I worked in various public relations, governmental affairs and public policy positions throughout the Commonwealth including a position with The House of Representatives and, most recently, Columbia Gas. Q: Why did you choose to pursue a career in External Affairs? I’ve always enjoyed working with the public and trying to understand what makes other people, especially those that disagree with me, tick. I like to communicate the virtues and benefits of natural gas usage and educating the community about what Cabot does. Q: What do you enjoy about your position with Cabot? I most enjoy the ability to see work through to its end, the fast pace and the fact that there’s never a dull moment. I’m also afforded a lot of autonomy to get the work done and make decisions. I appreciate that so much trust is given at Cabot. Q: Besides trust, what makes Cabot different from other companies you’ve worked with? What makes Cabot different is the scope, the scale and the pace at which we work. I have the privilege of dealing with many different issues on a daily basis, which is why I say there’s never a dull moment. Just when you think you have something contained, something new happens. Q: You work a lot with the Susquehanna community, what do you like about the people and the region?I think that the people in Susquehanna are extremely friendly and the county has a wonderful history and rich traditions. The community is beautiful – I love exploring and learning about it with my family. My wife and children enjoy taking trips with me to Northeastern Pennsylvania for events like the Montrose Fourth of July Parade and the upcoming Cabot Community Picnic. Q; Anything else that you’d like to add? [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]I’m married with three girls and I’ve been fortunate because each of my children has found part of my job to be interesting and worthwhile. The girls like seeing what I do and how I handle different audiences and viewpoints.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]If you’d like to know more about George, follow him on Twitter or connect with him on LinkedIn. Stay tuned for next Monday’s “Meet the Cabot Crew,” when we’ll interview Brittany Thomas and Bill desRosiers about their jobs at Cabot.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
