Department Feature: Finance

Last week, we interviewed John Edmonds, Financial Analyst at Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, for our Meet the Cabot Crew Feature. This Monday, we want to give credit to and shine light on all of our hard workers in the finance and accounting departments. If you’ve ever wondered who manages our money, our finest financiers will give you the scoop. Denise Clutter, accounting specialist, Tammy Downey, accounting specialist, Sherry Edgerton, accounts payable specialist, and Brenda Keim, financial analyst, weigh in on their jobs, their dreams and what makes Cabot great.

Q: What is your favorite duty within your job description?

Denise: Paying invoices is more fun than it sounds!

Tammy: I enjoy being able to work through the problem invoices with the vendor and come to a resolution.

Sherry: I like to pay invoices; it’s actually relaxing.

Brenda: Helping to prepare the budgets and forecasts is my favorite.

Q: Why did you decide to pursue Finance as a career?

Denise: A friend actually recommended it, and it’s a very secure job.

Tammy: I love working with numbers and enjoy a challenging job that makes me think.

Sherry: It’s a great career for my family life.

Brenda: I like working with numbers and getting into the details of the financial results.

Q: If you didn’t LOVE working for Cabot, what would you be?

Denise: I’d be a nurse.

Tammy: I would probably be a Chef. In my spare time I enjoy cooking for my family.

Sherry: I’d like to own a lunch cafe or be a master gardener.

Brenda: I would be a running coach.

Q: What is one thing that you wish people knew about your job?

Denise: I’ve only worked here for six weeks, so I’m not sure yet.

Tammy: It is so important that we are given accurate information when processing the invoices.

Sherry: We do a lot more than just process invoices.

Brenda: To be able to perform our job accurately, we relentlessly request data from all of the Departments/Districts and want everyone to know how much we appreciate their help.

Q: If you had to work in any other position at Cabot for a day, whose or what would it be and why?

Denise: I think that I’d like to work in land.

Tammy: I think that a (brief) trade with Geology would be interesting.

Sherry: I would like to see a well up close and personal, so probably a well site hand.

Brenda: I don’t think I would want to trade… maybe with someone who works the 9/80 schedule and has next Friday off!

Q: What is your favorite part about working for Cabot?

Denise: I love the atmosphere and the office culture.

Tammy: I think that Cabot is a very pleasant place to work. The staff is very helpful, we have a great work environment, good company policies and the company is well managed.

Sherry: We have very nice associates and I enjoy having my own office.

Brenda:  I enjoy working with so many interesting people.  The free coffee, soda and candy is also nice!

Thanks for giving us a look inside your job ladies! We look forward to learning about and sharing the highlights of other Cabot departments on coming Mondays.
