Meet the Cabot Crew: Brittany Thomas

[vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/2″]By reading our past few Monday blog posts, you’ve become familiar with the members of our External Affairs team at Cabot Oil & Gas
Corporation
. You’ve also learned about the many community events that the team plans throughout the year in Susquehanna County. Last weekend, we held our largest community event ever when a total of approximately 7,000 people streamed into the Harford Fairgrounds for Cabot’s Third Annual Community Picnic.[/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image css_animation=”” image=”1064″ border_color=”” img_link_large=”” link=”http://cabotsusq.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/picture44.jpg” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=””][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]We’ll share more about the great success of the event in Wednesday’s Drilling Down post, but today Cabot would like to take time to highlight Brittany Thomas, Coordinator of External Affairs and the young woman who planned the
2012 Cabot Picnic from its infancy in January to its culmination Saturday, July 21. Brittany coordinated every aspect of the highly-attended Picnic, from every department in Cabot’s large tent to the presence of our contractors, vendors and community vendors.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Brittany, a Bethel Park, Pa., native, graduated from Penn State University with a dual major in Public Relations and Psychology in 2011 and became involved with Cabot initially in a contracted public relations position. Not long after, George Stark, Director of External Affairs, recognized her talent and hired her full-time as the first Coordinator of External Affairs.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Since then, Brittany has experienced a number of aspects of External Affairs, from media relations to community outreach. Today, she’ll sit down with us to discuss her rewarding job.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Q: What are your specific job duties? One of the best parts of my job is that my duties range across the entire public relations spectrum. On any given day, I can jump from media relations to crisis communications to writing press releases and issuing statements. Some of my primary duties include managing our Twitter and blog content as well as writing, scheduling and researching content for our social media and publications. I’m also responsible for supervising the External Affairs internship position. Q: What do you like about working for Cabot?  No day is exactly alike at Cabot. I love to come into work and have new tasks to work on and new people to work with. I also like the freedom that is given to me by George Stark. Because the External Affairs Coordinator position wasn’t established before I came, I have the ability to mold my job around my interests. George trusts me to try new things for Cabot, like the recent establishment of Cabot’s Twitter (Dec. 2010) and blog (March 2012).  Q: Even though you’re located in the Pittsburgh Office, you’ve spent a lot of time in Susquehanna County when planning the Cabot Picnic. What do you like about the community? In the time I’ve spent here, I’ve been able to admire the incredible mountain ranges and meet some wonderful people. Susquehanna really is a beautiful place with beautiful residents. Q: Anything else that you’d like to add? I’m really enjoying my work at Cabot because everyone here is so accommodating. If I have questions about the drilling process or about hydraulic fracturing, people at Cabot take the time to share their knowledge and stories with me. The team atmosphere around the office is really wonderful.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Brittany says that she’s learned so much that she’s ready to personally drill a well in her own back yard – but she’s only kidding (we hope!) But in all seriousness, we’d like to thank Brittany for all her hard work on the Picnic and congratulate her for the great success. Read more about the Picnic from Brittany’s point of view in Wednesday’s post.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
