A Sporting Clay Tournament Like No Other

[vc_row animation=””][vc_column width=”1/2″]This year’s second annual Cabot fall classic was our largest sporting clay tournament to date. Over 200 hundred people from 50 different companies participated in the classic that was held this past Friday at Hidden Hollow Sporting Clays in Friendsville, PA. People shot their way to the top while raising over $50,000 for the inspiring St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As a reminder, St. Joseph’s Center is a place of hope to individuals and families who have special needs. They provide for individuals diagnosed with Intellectual disability, pregnant women, young families, couples hoping to adopt, and people who require outpatient therapy.

The top three teams this year were: NWPOA (349), Sugar Hollow Water Services (303), DR. Well Services (279).

Basically teams of five worked together, shooting as many targets as possible, as an electronically controlled machine spun around throwing targets in every single direction. Every single person who tried this walked away with a big smile.

The competition rules were simple: anything goes and each team was encouraged to bring its best dishes. Baker Hughes, which started cooking at 3am, brought in a pig, chicken and gumbo while Halliburton countered with ribs and scallops wrapped in bacon. Every single bit of food including the side dishes, was devoured by the hungry participants. After lunch everyone voted and Halliburton was the winner by just FOUR votes. Thanks to both Baker Hughes and Halliburton for making delicious food.

There was even a representative from Upland Adventures who traveled in from Colorado to sell hunting and finishing adventures and excursions to exotic places like South America and Africa.

The course consists of about 16-22 Sporting Clay Stations, a Tower Field, Five Stand and Skeet Field, offering both the experienced and novice shooter an opportunity to improve his or her shooting ability.
